Several area schools have already gotten spring football workouts underway. Caney Valley is waiting until after graduation takes place on Thursday night to begin its practices.
Plenty of optimism and experience will be on the field when the Trojans open up practice on Friday. Caney Valley had virtually no offseason program last year but still posted five wins—tying the best mark for the program over the last five seasons.
A young Trojans roster took a leap last year. The likes of Dillon Lucas and Cooper Fogle will be key returning pieces on defense. Daniel Barham and Jeff Childress will be important offensive skill players. Zak Wallis has started at quarterback each of the last two seasons.
The Trojans will have a team camp date at Liberty toward the end of the month. CV will also participate in the Dewey passing league on Monday night’s throughout June.
